“We are all in a social network,” said President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking with Lincoln Network senior fellow Geoffrey Cain in WIRED. “This is our world now. It is divided. The internet is a reality.”
On May 18, our senior fellow Geoffrey Cain sat down for a rare, hour-long interview with President Zelensky at the presidential palace in Kyiv. They talked about trends in cyber-warfare, the growing importance of social media, the success of Elon Musk’s Starlink system, and the brave work of Ukraine’s “IT Army” of volunteer hackers who’ve successfully defended against massive Russian cyber-attacks.
President Zelensky revealed his new findings that Western companies appear to be selling components–he believes in violation of sanctions–for use in Russian military systems. “We are fighting not only against Russia,” he said, “but against all those companies as well.”
