Alexei Bulazel

Bio
Alexei Bulazel is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Foundation for American Innovation, focused on national security, technology, cybersecurity, and AI. Alexei is a cybersecurity policy and technology expert with extensive experience in the U.S. government and the private sector, including prior roles developing cyber policy as a Director on the White House National Security Council (NSC) staff and as a Senior Security Researcher at Apple.
Alexei has presented on cyber policy matters related to military and intelligence operations, government regulation, export control, and critical infrastructure, among other topics, at events hosted by the Foundation for American Innovation, National Defense University, Hudson Institute, the Museum of the American Revolution, and other organizations. He has also published on 5G security issues in Lawfare.
Alexei has presented computer security research on software reverse engineering and vulnerabilities in antivirus software at numerous venues, including Black Hat, DEFCON, and REcon, and has published peer-reviewed academic papers at the USENIX Workshop on Offensive Technology (WOOT) and the Reversing and Offensive-oriented Trends Symposium (ROOTS). Alexei has served on the review board for several technical conferences and journals, including the IEEE S&P LangSec Workshop, NDSS Workshop on Binary Analysis Research, IEEE SecDev, and ACM Digital Threats: Research and Practice.
Alexei earned his MS and BS degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and is an alumnus of the RPISEC computer security team. He served as a Hacker In Residence at NYU Tandon School of Engineering for the 2019-2020 school year.
